About Sophie
Sophie Rose Saoirse is a writer, political scientist, and above all, a devoted dog mom. Her work spans political op-eds and fiction, exploring the intersection of power, feminism, and identity. She is currently working on her debut novel that delves into governance, faith, and ideologies.
Sophie studied World Politics with a specialization in Political Institutions & Processes at The Ohio State University and will begin an MA in Creative Writing in September 2025 in London, England, UK. She is particularly passionate about the ways political narratives shape history, media, and public perception and how literature serves as both a reflection of and a challenge to these structures.
Her nonfiction writing focuses on democracy, authoritarianism, and the dangers of political false equivalence. On the fiction side, her storytelling is often lyrical, immersive, and layered with themes of loss, resilience, and legacy.
When she’s not writing, you can probably find her reading, debating international politics, or snuggling with her dog, Walnut Guinness, who is very spoiled, and despite his many talents (trilingual and all) he has yet to contribute to her writing in any meaningful way (besides the occasional keyboard stomp).
